Facelifted Honda Fit goes on sale in South Africa – Pricing and specifications

Honda has updated the Fit series for South African audiences, giving the hatchback a new look, an expanded feature list, and a simplified selection with the discontinuation of the Executive trim.

The company updated the range-topping eHEV hybrid model in December 2023, but the makeover has now been extended to the remaining two units in the line-up.

Features

The facelift has given the Fit a new set of front and rear bumpers, as well as a revised honeycomb grille that lends the car a more characterful aesthetic.

The window frames and pillars further have a matte black finish, and all versions of the car now feature a black finish on the ring surrounding the projector LED headlights and daytime running lights.

Standard equipment across the updated Fit range comprises automatic climate control, alloy wheels that start at 15 inches, smart keyless entry, a 9.0-inch HDMI infotainment screen, six airbags, and front and rear parking sensors.

Honda’s “Sensing” advanced driver assistance system is now fitted to all models, too, which includes a front wide-view camera with night-time operating, a collision-mitigation braking system with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, a road departure alert system, and automatic high beams that engage at speeds over 40km/h and turn off when an oncoming car is detected.

The mid-range Fit Elegance trim then gets larger 16-inch alloy rims, a reverse camera, a wireless phone charger, and seats that are a mix of cloth and artificial leather.

The flagship eHEV, meanwhile, boasts a full leather interior, heated front seats, and Honda’s “Magic Seats” that allow for different configurations to improve the hatchback’s load capacity from 298 litres all the way up to 1,199 litres.

Engine

All three versions of the Fit use a 1.5-litre petrol engine, with the non-electrified models producing a total of 89kW and 145Nm.

This connects to the front wheels using a CVT transmission, resulting in an average fuel consumption of 5.5l/100km.

The hybrid version is equipped with a small electric motor that provides assistance to the combustion engine, raising its combined output to 90kW and 253Nm, while its fuel usage comes to a frugal 3.7l/100km.

The South African pricing for the facelifted Honda Fit is as follows:

• Honda Fit 1.5 Elegance – R415,900
• Honda Fit 1.5 Hybrid e.HEV – R544,900

This includes a 5-year/200,000km warranty, a 4-year/60,000km service plan, and a 3-year/unlimited-kilometre roadside assistance plan.

The e.HEV additionally receives an extended 8-year/200,000km warranty to cover the lithium-ion battery and other related components of the hybrid system.
