Fiat in partnership with Italian entrepreneur Antonio Pietro Maria Galasso has dreamt up the ultimate ride for fanatics of its iconic hatchback – the Car 500 Off-Shore.
The Car 500 Off-Shore is a Fiat 500-inspired boat featuring all the hallmark styling elements of the little city car blended with maritime design making it a seaworthy vessel.
Only 500 units of the Off-Shore have been produced with a limited number of those available to the public – 60 of which have already found owners – with prices starting from £96,780 (R2.3 million).
Two variations are available: the Puglia Edition in a turquoise outer paint and the Miami Edition in a peach orange outer paint.
Fortunately, for Fiat 500 aficionados who do not have the financial means to purchase an Off-Shore themselves, the quirky boat will be available to rent on the shores of the Amalfi Coast in Italy and Miami in the United States.
One-and-a-half hour sunset cruises start at €400 (R8,150), and clients can even pay €1,200 (R24,450) to host a wedding proposal on the watercraft.
La Dolce Vita
The Car 500 Off-Shore measures 4.7m long and offers room for up to five passengers with a small swimming platform and ladder installed at the rear for those lazy days out at sea.
To maintain the classic 500 silhouette, the boat wears the same round LED headlights and grille as the hatchback, it gets functional rear-view mirrors and window wipers, its “half-wheel arches” are filled with faux rims, and stainless steel accents feature boldly around the exterior.
Inside, it boasts leather upholstery, two reclining lounges instead of rear seats, and wood side sills.
Optionally, Car 500 Off-Shore can further be equipped with marine speakers and a Bluetooth multimedia player, a hand shower, and an upgraded dashboard.
Several outboard engine options are available of up to 85kW, lending the vessel a top speed of 39km/h.
