Opel has launched the new Corsa in South Africa, updating its looks and features to keep it fresh for modern audiences.
The iconic hatchback is now available in three trim levels with prices ranging from R374,900 to R459,900.
All three models make use of a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine, though the range-topping GS Line has a higher power ceiling to go along with its more athletic look.
The entry-lever Lite and mid-range Edition variants have access to 74kW and 205Nm, while the GS Line puts out a greater 96kW and 230Nm.
Gear changes are handled by a six-speed manual gearbox on the first two units, while the flagship is the only one to feature an automatic shifter.
Fuel consumption is then pegged at between 5.7-6.3l/100km.
Equipment on the entry-level Lite encompasses automatic LED headlights and daytime running lights, 16-inch alloy wheels, manual aircon, a multifunction steering wheel, six speakers, cruise control, hill-start assist, lane-keep assist, front pedestrian detection, rear parking sensors, tyre-pressure monitoring, six airbags, a 3.5-inch driver display, and a 10-inch infotainment system with Bluetooth.
Those who pick up the Edition can also expect LED fog lamps, electric wing mirrors, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, MirrorLink smartphone pairing, front parking sensors, a reverse camera, and blind-spot monitoring.
As for the GS Line, it rounds out the brochure with rain-sensing wipers, partial leatherette upholstery, heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, automatic climate control, driver attention alert, automatic emergency braking, a two-tone roof, a rear spoiler, and chrome accents.
Each purchase of the new Corsa includes a 5-year/100,000km warranty, 3-year/45,000km service plan, and 5-year/100,000km roadside assistance.
