South African launch dates revealed of new VW Polo Vivo, T-Cross, Tiguan, and Touareg

At the recent launch of the new ID.4 in South Africa, VW revealed that it has a busy year ahead with at least four more cars headed to our roads before the calendar clicks over to 2025.
Firstly, fans can finally expect the arrival of the facelifted Polo Vivo in early August.
The popular hatch has been on sale in its current form for just over six years – except for the updated Vivo GT from 2023 – with the revisions expected to bring a slightly revised exterior design, enhanced standard equipment, and new model nomenclature.
Next up, VW will reveal the revamped T-Cross at the 2024 Festival of Motoring (FoM) which is taking place over the span of three days from 30 August to 1 September.
The new crossover sports a restyled front and rear end, new features such as a 9.2-inch infotainment screen, and a reworked naming scheme, with VW moving away from the current “Comfortline” and “Highline” hierarchy to Base, Life, Style, and R-Line designations.
The week after FoM will then see the arrival of the next-generation Tiguan.
The mid-size SUV has been reworked from the ground up with new architecture that promises improved comfort and capability, a completely redesigned outer shell, and much-improved technologies.
Finally, the enhanced Touareg will land in South African showrooms in the final quarter of the year, i.e. between October and December, to complete VW’s product offensive for 2024.
The Touareg was on the receiving end of new bumpers, lights, and wheels; updated amenities; and a refined suspension system.
What to expect in 2025
While we’re still a ways away from 2025, VW has already divulged that it has a major introduction in store for next year.
This will be none other than that of its first electric vehicle in the country, the ID.4 Pro.
VW may have already “launched” the battery-powered SUV in South Africa, but it’s not yet available to the average consumer.
For the next year, the ID.4 Pro will exclusively be driven by select media, dealers, and VIP customers to allow VW to gain insights into the demands and needs of the local market.
Then, in 2025, the facelifted ID.4 Pro will go on sale to the general public through a bespoke leasing product, and in 2026 it will become available through more traditional retail avenues such as bank financing.
The updated Golf 8.5 GTI and Golf 8.5 R could arrive in South Africa next year, too.
VW has yet to confirm the debut dates of these hot hatches, however, they have already hit the roads in Germany.
Given that it took around a year between the initial reveal in Europe of the current-generation Golf GTI, which took place in March 2020, and the domestic launch of the car, which happened in July 2021, we could be looking at the same timeline for the introduction of the facelifted models.
