The new Toyota Starlet Cross has officially gone on sale in South Africa.

Based on the Suzuki Fronx, the Cross is now positioned as Toyota’s most affordable SUV.

It is available in four specifications, with prices starting at R299,900.


N1 closures announced for this weekend – Details

The South African National Roads Agency (Sanral) has warned motorists of upcoming lane closures for the N1 freeway this weekend.

The lane closures will take place near the Flying Saucer Interchange in Centurion, Gauteng, to facilitate the repairs to the N1 sinkhole.

Construction will run from Friday 26 July until Sunday 28 July.


Get ready for 24/7 road policing in South Africa

The Department of Transport (DoT) has plans to implement a 24/7 shift schedule for traffic police within the next year.

The new Deputy Minister of Transport, Mkhuleko Hlengwa, wants to have visible traffic enforcement on the roads at all times to curtail lawless behaviour from motorists.

The 24/7 shift system is expected to go live by 31 March 2025.


New Chinese brand launches South Africa’s most affordable electric car

The Chinese automaker Dayun has just launched the most affordable electric car in South Africa.

Known as the Dayun Yuehu S5, the SUV-styled hatch has a starting price of R399,900.

This makes it R140,000 cheaper than the previous entry-level electric car, the BYD Dolphin.


New VW Touareg – South African pricing revealed

VW has announced the South African pricing of the new Touareg ahead of its official launch in August.

The premium SUV will be available in two trim levels at launch, both driven by a V6 turbo-diesel powerplant.

The Touareg is the first of four new VW vehicles headed to our roads over the next few months, the others being the facelifted Polo Vivo, updated T-Cross, and next-generation Tiguan.
