Every Suzuki on sale in South Africa right now – And which ones are due for an update

Suzuki has a large and versatile roster of vehicles in South Africa, and the good news is that most of them are relatively new additions to the market.

The Japanese automaker is the third-best-selling badge in the country, thanks in no small part to its catalogue of vehicles that caters to everything from people carriers and small hatchbacks to family crossovers and a capable 4×4.

It’s also one of the most affordable brands in South Africa, as most of its collection can be bought for less than R300,000.

Despite its wallet-friendly nature, Suzuki is also good at keeping its vehicles up to date, as five of its 11 models were either launched or received major updates in 2023.

This includes the new Eeco, Fronx, XL6, and Grand Vitara, as well as the updated Jimny which finally received a five-door variation on top of additional features.

Going back to 2022, we have the updated Celerio, S-Presso, and Baleno hatchbacks, as well as the Ertiga MPV, meaning that nine out of Suzuki’s 11 models received attention in the last two years.

One of the outliers is the fan-favourite Suzuki Swift, which underwent a touch-up in 2021 but has been in its current generation since 2018.

However, motorists shouldn’t have to wait much longer for the new version, as the next-gen Swift has already gone on sale in India and is anticipated to land on local soil in the near future.

The oldest entries include the entry-level Ignis crossover and two sedans – the Ciaz and Dzire.

The Ignis and Dzire were last visited in 2020 while the Ciaz was launched in 2019, making it the oldest-serving current model in the carmaker’s stable.
