Petrol price review for South Africa kicks into gear
The Minister of Finance, Enoch Godongwana, has confirmed that a Fuel Price Intervention Plan will soon be tabled in Cabinet.
This follows President Cyril Ramaphosa’s announcement earlier this year that the Government of National Unity would review the current fuel price formula.
The stated goal is to identify areas where the price can be reduced to alleviate the cost burden being felt by households around the country.

Mercedes-Benz has officially unveiled a new version of the G-Glass, otherwise known as the G-Wagen.
The high-end SUV is is getting an exclusive model called the Grand Edition, which costs R5,474,512.
The elite G-Wagen is being rolled out in limited numbers worldwide, and South African has been allocated 20 units.
Massive railway upgrade to create over 10 million jobs in South Africa
Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi has stated that the expansion to the Gautrain network will create more than 10 million new jobs.
The Gautrain Management Agency (GMA) previously announced that the passenger rail service would be nearly tripled in size from 80km to 230km.
The project will kick off in 2026 and is expected to take place over five years.
Petrol attendant salary increases to affect prices at the pumps in September
The Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy, Gwede Mantashe, has approved an increase to the fuel retail margin which will take effect this September.
The price increase is necessary to accommodate wage increases for service station employees like cashiers and pump attendants.
Despite the increase, fuel rates are still expected to be lower next month thanks to a lower international oil price and a better exchange rate.
Next-gen Suzuki Swift – South African specifications
Suzuki has revealed the local specifications for the next-gen Swift ahead of its launch this spring.
At launch, the hatchback will a total of five models spread out over three trim levels.
It is equipped with a more efficient petrol engine, and can be paired with either a manual or CVT gearbox.
