The VW Polo Vivo was the best-selling hatchback in South Africa in August 2024, though its sales took a considerable dip from where they were the month prior.
Volkswagen’s cheapest car moved a total of 1,937 units, reflecting a decline of 654 sales in comparison to July.
On the other hand, the runner-up Hyundai Grand i10 managed to improve on its figures, going from 1,269 to 1,328 units.
Third place saw a big shake-up last month as the Suzuki Swift and Toyota Starlet traded spots, with the former finishing on the podium while the other dropped down to fifth place.
The Swift went up from 1,045 to 1,190 units, while the Starlet dropped from 1,222 to 842 – likely as a consequence of the new Starlet Cross eating into its market share.
The VW Polo’s spot in fourth is unaffected thanks to 1,149 sales, and the Suzuki Baleno landed sixth with 604 units.
Going further up the top 10, the Renault Kwid found 512 new customers, while the Hyundai i20 moved 484 examples, putting the two in seventh and eighth place.
The final two then consisted of the Toyota Vitz and Suzuki S-Presso, which managed to sell 432 and 284 units, respectively.
