Every crossover you can buy under R300,000 in South Africa

There are nine different crossovers in South Africa that can be bought for less than R300,000, what many consider to be the upper bound for an entry-level set of wheels.

The wallet-friendly SUV market saw a few welcome additions to its roster in the last few months with new models from Hyundai, Mahindra, and Toyota all making an appearance.

Hyundai introduced the Exter, which is based on the Grand i10 platform, while Mahindra replaced the XUV300 with the modern XUV 3X0 at a lower price tag.

Toyota, meanwhile, finally launched its own version of the Suzuki Fronx called the Starlet Cross, giving motorists the option of an SUV version of the popular Starlet hatchback.

The Suzuki Ignis still holds the title of South Africa’s cheapest crossover at a base sticker of R230,900, and the Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger, and Citroen C3 all fall below the R250,000 mark.

There’s also a single Chinese entry with the Chery Tiggo 4 Pro, as the company ushered in a more affordable LiT specification post-launch to broaden the model’s appeal to price-conscious consumers.
