So long Toyota Corolla Quest – Here’s what you can buy instead

The Toyota Corolla Quest’s time on the South African market has finally come to an end.

The Quest’s removal comes as a major blow to anyone looking to buy an affordable sedan in our market.

Prior to its discontinuation, the locally made four-door sold for between R336,000 and R414,800, making it one of the last sedans to retail for less than half-a-million rand.

For anyone who may still be interested in tracking one down, it’s helpful to know that all units feature a 1.8-litre petrol engine with an output of 103kW and 173Nm, which is transmitted to the front wheels using either a six-speed manual or a CVT transmission.

It also reports a fuel consumption of between 6.4l/100km and 7.0l/100km, depending on whether you have the CVT or manual.

Equipment on the entry-grade Corolla Quest Plus comprises daytime running lights, 15-inch steel wheels, all-electric windows, power-adjustable mirrors, keyless entry and push-button start, a multifunction steering wheel, manual aircon, and a radio with Bluetooth and USB connections.

The mid-range Prestige throws in 16-inch alloy wheels, a reverse camera, cruise control, a leather steering wheel, partial leather upholstery, and a touchscreen infotainment system with six speakers.

The top-end Exclusive, meanwhile, offers automatic climate control, a colour multi-info driver’s display, leather seats, rain-sensing wipers, and LED headlamps.
