RIP Toyota Corolla Quest

The Toyota Corolla Quest has officially been discontinued.

Toyota South Africa confirmed the news to cars.co.za, stating that the Quest “came to the end of its production cycle” in late 2024.

It was built for an impressive 11 years at Toyota’s Prospecton, KwaZulu-Natal factory alongside favourites such as the Hilux, Corolla Cross, and Fortuner.

The demise of the Quest leaves only the fully fledged Corolla in Toyota’s local sedan stable.

Grab it before it’s gone

As is usually the case, Toyota likely built a heady stockpile of Quests before shutting down the production line to ensure those who really want a new one can still get it for months to come, but we now know that time is limited.

For those interested buyers, the Quest was available in six specifications upon its discontinuation retailing from R336,000 to R414,800.

All models feature a 1.8-litre petrol engine capable of churning out 103kW and173Nm, which is fed to the front axle through either a six-speed manual or continuously variable transmission (CVT).

The manual options return a fuel usage of 7.0l/100km and can reach 100km/h in 9.8 seconds, while the CVT is slightly lighter on propellant with a reading of 6.4l/100km but slower to triple digits at 10.2 seconds.

In terms of kit, the last Quest is offered in entry-level Plus, mid-range Prestige, and top-spec Exclusive trim levels.

The Plus is delivered with amenities such as daytime running lights, power-adjustable mirrors, keyless entry and push-button start, a manual airconditioner, electric windows, a multifunction steering wheel, and a radio with Bluetooth and USB functionality.

Outside, it’s differentiated through its matte black radiator grille and 15-inch steel wheels.

The Prestige models are upgraded with a touchscreen infotainment system with six speakers, a reverse camera, cruise control, a leather steering wheel, combination fabric/leather seats, and 16-inch alloy wheels.

At the top, the Exclusive grade adds climate control, a colour multi-info driver’s display, leather seats, rain-sensing wipers, and LED headlamps.

Toyota Connect – accessible through the MyToyota smartphone app – is also fitted across the range, bringing features such as in-car Wi-Fi, battery health status, real-time roadside assistance, service scheduling, GPS tracking, a digital logbook, and a driver rating.

Each Quest is protected by a 3-year/100,000km warranty and 3-services/45,000km service plan.
