November was a fantastic month for bakkie sales in South Africa with light commercial vehicle purchases increasing 20.5% year-on-year to reach a total of 13,048 units.
The top-seller last month was, of course, the Toyota Hilux, which singlehandedly contributed 3,383 units to the nation’s total.
This is according to a report by Cars.co.za, based on industry sales data from Naamsa.
The Ford Ranger managed to reclaim second place from the Isuzu D-Max, with the former moving 2,292 units while the latter sold 1,673.
Another reliable entry is the Mahindra Pik Up, which once again took fourth place with 737 purchases.
November was a particularly good month for the GWM P-Series, which jumped from seventh to fifth place thanks to 665 customers.
The Nissan Navara came sixth with 511 units, which was followed by the Toyota Land Cruiser in seventh place with 403.
The VW Amarok, which came fifth in October, dropped to the eighth spot with 401 sales, and the JAC T-Series made its return to the top 10 with 202 units, landing it in ninth place.
Last up is the Foton Tunland G7, which sent 194 examples out the showroom door.
In total, the top 10 bakkies sold a combined 10,461 units, accounting for 19.05% of the 54,896 vehicles sold in South Africa last month.
