The Jetour T2 is off to an incredible start in South Africa, selling 545 units in its first two weeks on the market.
The Chinese SUV only debuted in mid-November, but has already managed to outperform the brand’s two other cars, the Dashing and the X70 Plus.
According to Naamsa data compiled by Cars.co.za, the T2 sold 545 examples while the Dashing and X70 Plus moved 366 and 243 units, respectively.
Curiously, the T2 is also much more popular than its sibling, the T1, as both cars were launched at the same time, yet the latter only accumulated 81 sales.
This may be due to the fact that the two T-badged models share a platform and engine and aren’t that far apart in price, as the T1 has four variants that range from R514,900 to R634,900, while the T2 has three options that cost between R569,900 and R679,900.
It’s therefore possible that most customers are opting for the T2 instead of the T1, which is slightly more upmarket, so it will be interesting to see if this trend continues over the following months.
In any case, the T2 has proven to be a big hit with South African motorists, as it accounted for 44% of Jetour’s 1,235 sales despite only going on sale in the second half of November.
The automaker stated that the T2 is one of the key driving forces behind its sales in other markets like Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait and Iraq, so it seems like this pattern is going to continue in South Africa.
What all the fuss is about

The T2 is an Adventure SUV that is available with one of two engines, starting with a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol mill good for 125kW and 270Nm.
This option sends power to the front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, resulting in an average fuel consumption of 7.9l/100km.
Alternatively, there’s the 2.0-litre turbo option, which generates 180kW and 375Nm and connects to the brand’s XWD Intelligent four-wheel-drive (4WD) system.
This version consumes 9.3l/100km, and has driving modes for Sport, Snow, Mud, and Sand.
In terms of equipment, the base Aspire trim comes with automatic LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, auto-folding heated side mirrors, 18-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, rain-sensing wupers, a panoramic sunroof, an electric tailgate, and Jetour animation puddle lamps.
It also features keyless entry and start, an electric driver’s seat, ventilated front seats, a faux leather multifunction steering wheel with paddle shifters, dual-zone climate control, artificial leather upholstery, USB Type A and Type C ports, a wireless charger, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 15.6-inch infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
On top of this, the T2 is fitted with a driver assistance and safety suite comprising cruise control, hill hold and descent control, rollover mitigation, blind spot monitoring, door open warning, rear cross-traffic alert, rear collision warning, six airbags, rear parking sensors, a 540-degree camera, and tyre pressure monitoring.
Upgrading to the mid-range Xplora will then add illuminated Jetour door sills, a tow bar, crawl control (off-road cruise control), and an eight-speaker stereo.
The top-spec Odyssey, meanwhile, will throw in a 12-speaker Sony sound system, an electric front passenger seat, ambient lighting, and an illuminated Jetour logo in the front grille.
Each purchase comes with a 7-year/200,000km warranty, a 7-year/75,000km service plan, and a 10-year/1-million km powertrain warranty valid for the first owner
