WeBuyCars is one of South Africa’s best-known second-hand car dealerships, providing thousands of pre-owned vehicles for sale at its “vehicle supermarkets”.
The company has a presence in all nine provinces and is planning on expanding this network with four more supermarkets within the next 18 months.
Currently, WeBuyCars is buying 7,250 vehicles per month – while selling an average of 6,925 vehicles per month.
This is based on figures from a recent financial report by Transaction Capital – a 49.9% shareholder in WeBuyCars – which included data for the period between October 2020 and March 2021.
The average selling price of these vehicles during the period was R112,000.
This is up from R103,000 when compared to the same period in 2020, and R101,500 when compared to 2019.
R112,000
We paid a visit to WeBuyCars to see what they have on offer in this price range.
Unsurprisingly, out of the 4,500-plus vehicles on sale, the R100,000-to-R150,000 price range is one of the biggest.
For the astute buyer, this bracket features the better bargains on the market – if you know what to look for.
If you are a bit less experienced and looking at buying your next vehicle, a good rule is to look for the newest model available, make sure that it has a service history, get a vehicle verification and valuation check, and – most importantly – make sure you can afford it.
Below, we have listed a range of vehicles that we found on WeBuyCars for around R112,000.
