Running a business with my Toyota Rav4 – Owner’s review

TopAuto reader Vanessa has a trusty Toyota Rav4 that she relies on to help her business function.

Vanessa tells us more about her nine years of ownership below.

Which model do you own?

I own a 2008 Toyota Rav4 2.0 AWD GX, which has 108,000km on the clock.

When did you get the car?

I bought the car second hand in 2012 from Toyota Bedfordview, when it only had 21,000km on the clock.

What are your three favourite things about the car?

It is a comfortable and easy car to drive that can handle mild off-roading.

This ability is necessary for me as I often have to access building sites over pavements or through thick mud.

I like that the Rav4 has a large boot, too, as this allows me to transport my design boards and building plans with ease.

It also has a 4-Star Euro NCAP safety rating, which gives me peace of mind.

Which three things do you like least about the car?

One of the things I least like about the car is the material upholstery – leather seats would have been preferable.

The car is also missing features I would have appreciated, such as parking assist and heated seats – especially with the recent cold front we faced.

More power would be appreciated, too, as I feel that the car’s performance is a bit disappointing at times.

What is it like to drive your car every day?

It is a great car to drive every day as it has fantastic functionality, yet it is easy to manoeuvre for an SUV.

The Rav4 is also comfortable when sitting in traffic, and it is reasonably fuel-efficient at 7.8-litres/100km.

Would you recommend your car to friends and family?

I would absolutely recommend my car to friends and family. It is extremely reliable, a “good old faithful” car that has never let me down.

Also, with it being a Toyota, it is inexpensive to service.
