The most exclusive cars for rich South Africans

The wealth intelligence firm New World Wealth, in collaboration with Steyn City Parkland Residence, has released a report outlining the top 10 hobbies for high net worth individuals in South Africa.

The list features activities such as golf and cycling near the top, and art and watch collecting also found their way in.

The 8th spot is what caught our attention, however, as it firmly stated that rich South Africans like collecting classic cars.

Unusual investments

According to in-house data from New World Wealth, the prices of classic cars have risen by over 90% in the past decade – making them one of the best investment classes for wealthy individuals across the globe.

The top five performers came as no surprise, as they have been some of the most sought-after vehicles since their releases.

The top individual performers (in US dollars) over the past 10 years are as follows:

  • Ferrari 250 GT California – up 240%
