Toyota continues to hold the position as South Africa’s favourite crossover brand, thanks to not one, but two of its best-selling vehicles – the Urban Cruiser and the Corolla Cross.
Nearly 2,000 Urban Cruisers were sold in the country in September, showing a month-on-month improvement in the performance of what is already South Africa’s top-selling crossover.
The Corolla Cross did similarly well, bouncing back with nearly 1,500 units finding their way to customers’ hands after Toyota recovered operations at its production facility in Durban.
Coming in third place once again is the VW T-Cross, the most affordable mini-SUV in Volkswagen’s lineup, and its more expensive cousin, the T-Roc also made its way into the top 15 last month.
Also performing well is the Chery Tiggo 4 Pro, a vehicle from a relatively new brand in South Africa that has shot to the top of the country’s motoring charts in recent months.
Another Chinese rival, Haval, also made its own appearance with the Jolion finding its way into the top 10.
Furthermore, Suzuki, another favourite brand in South Africa, performed well in September with the Vitara Brezza taking the fifth spot, while the Jimmy continues to be popular for those looking for an affordable 4×4.
The Hyundai Venue is likewise proving to be a continued hit with locals, as is the new Creta which launched in the country in July.
Dropping down a few places from July, but still performing well, is Renault with its in-expensive Kiger, and Mahindra and Kia both made appearances with the likes of the XUV300 and Sonet, respectively.
