Best-selling cars in South Africa

Toyota was once again South Africa’s best-selling carmaker this past month, taking all three podium positions for the most cars sold in October.

First place went to the ever-popular Hilux, which recently received a new addition with the GR-Sport, and sold a whopping 3,336 units in total.

Second place, meanwhile, goes to the Corolla Cross, which also got a GR makeover earlier this year helping it sell as many as 2,014 units in October.

Following this, third is taken up by Toyota’s most affordable crossover with the Urban Cruiser, which had 1,820 units make their way off the showroom floor.

October was evidently a good month for bakkies, too, as fourth and fifth place are occupied by the Ford Ranger and Isuzu D-Max, selling 1,807 and 1,802 units, respectively, and further down the list, the affordable NP200 proved to be Nissan’s most popular option for the month.

Taking its crown as South Africa’s favourite hatchback once again is the Suzuki Swift at 1,693 units moved, though the VW Polo Vivo isn’t far behind at 1,583 units.

As for SUVs, the Haval H6 proved to be the hot pick in October with almost 1,000 units sold, which was closely followed by the Toyota Fortuner and the H6’s smaller crossover cousin, the Jolion.

Speaking of crossovers, the Vitara Brezza, Nissan Magnite, and Chery Tiggo 4 Pro also enjoyed plenty of customer interest, all selling roughly 700 examples or more in October.
