Haval has launched a new entry in its popular Jolion crossover series, dubbed the S, which boasts more features and a higher output than the standard models.
This is reflected in its price, as the S starts at R479,950, making it the third most expensive model in the Jolion family only behind the recently-launched hybrid units.
For the higher window sticker, buyers receive a 25kW and 60Nm bump to the mini-SUV’s power bringing the 1.5-litre turbocharged powerplant’s potential up to 130kW and 270Nm.
Haval has not disclosed the official fuel consumption figure for the new Jolion, though the regular version averages 7.5l/100km and it’s likely that the increased performance of the new model will increase this figure.
Further complementing its performance, the S utilizes independent multi-link rear suspension to provide better handling and is equipped with launch control, a seven-speed automatic dual-clutch transmission, and driving modes for Standard, Comfort, Eco, Light, Snow, and Sports.
Other features that help the higher-spec trim stand out include a new front grille with a chrome honeycomb pattern, model-unique 18-inch alloy wheels, and gloss black finishes to the side mirrors, roof rails, and front and rear bumpers.
Interior fittings for the S comprise a multifunction steering wheel with paddle shifters, wireless charger, dual-zone climate control, eco-leather upholstery, heated front seats, keyless entry and start, a 360-degree camera system, parking sensors, a panoramic sunroof, six speakers, a 7-inch digital driver’s display, and a 12.3-inch infotainment unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Assistance features, meanwhile, take the form of adaptive cruise control, lane assist, lane departure alert, blind-spot detection, driver fatigue detection, traffic-jam assist, intelligent-turning assist, traffic-sign recognition, and automatic emergency braking.
Each purchase also comes with a 5-year/100,000km warranty and a 5-year/60,000km service plan.
