May was another solid month for bakkie sales in South Africa, though numbers were down across the board for the majority of manufacturers.
Despite its sales dipping by over 1,100 units in comparison to May, the Toyota Hilux kept the number one spot as usual with a performance of 2,789 units.
The Ford Ranger managed to reclaim the number two position from the Isuzu D-Max last month, though again, both saw a drop in sales compared to April.
The Ranger’s numbers went down by 143 vehicles to reach its May total of 2,104, while the D-Max dipped below the 2,000 mark with 1,555 units purchased.
Fourth place was reliably taken by the affordable Nissan NP200 once again with 1,157 units sold, while Mahindra’s Pik Up secured fifth place with 639.
The biggest jump in sales this past month was experienced by the GWM P-Series, which shot up to sixth place from ninth place last month, effectively switching places with the Nissan Navara in the rankings.
The VW Amarok, Toyota Land Cruiser 79, and GWM Steed also managed to make it into the top 10.
