Best-selling cars in South Africa

The Toyota Hilux has once again claimed the number-one spot as South Africa’s favorite vehicle, selling 3,309 units in August.

While an improvement from the 2,982 units it moved in July, it is still a step down from the 3,792 units it sold in June.

Second place was then taken by the ever-reliable VW Polo Vivo, which improved on last month’s 2,177 unit figure with a new total of 2,452 units.

Ford then came in third place overall, with its Ranger bakkie claiming the title of South Africa’s second most popular bakkie at 2,367 units.

The Toyota Corolla Cross was the second best-performing passenger vehicle and number four overall with 2,130 units purchased this August.

The final spot in the top five was claimed by Isuzu and its D-Max with 1,632 units moved, meaning only four vehicles sold over 2,000 units last month.

Nevertheless, August proved to be a strong month for many nameplates, as other cars to make it into the top 10 include the Toyota Hiace, Toyota Starlet, Suzuki Swift, VW Polo, and Nissan NP200.
