New limited-edition Land Rover Defender for South Africa – Pricing

Land Rover has unveiled a new limited-edition model for the Defender known as the Octa Black.
The Black is an exclusive product based on the flagship Octa specification, boasting a powerful engine and unique styling elements.
The Defender Octa Black has a starting price of R3,979,500, making it the most expensive unit in the Land Rover stable.
Features
As you’d expect, the new Land Rover has been given a gothic makeover with as many as 30 different exterior components gaining a new “Narvik Black” paint job.
According to the manufacturer, this is the darkest colour option available to the Defender series with a deep hue and gloss finish.
Customers can also apply an optional matte protective film to the exterior to protect the paint from the elements.
The front undershield and rear scuff plates are finished in Satin Black Powder Coat with exposed recovery eyes in Satin Black, and the quad exhaust tips at the back have been given a gloss black coat.
The Land Rover oval badge on the grille is also painted black, though its been given a silver script to ensure that it still stands out.
A similar finish has been applied to the underbody, as well as the optional electronically deployable tow bar.
Buyers can choose between a set of 20-inch or 22-inch gloss black forged alloy rims, either of which features black centre caps with Shadow Atlas Defender script.
The wheels are then accentuated by gloss black brake calipers with Sentient Silver scipt.
As for the interior, the dark theme continues with Ebony semi-aniline leather performance seats with Kvadrat – a first for the Defender.
The seats have a unique perforation pattern, and the dashboard cross car beam has a Satin Black Powder Coat.
Several components can also be decorated with a “chopped carbon fibre” finish at additional cost.
A few of the equipment highlights on the SUV include a 15-speaker Meridian sound system, dual-zone climate control, and a 13.1-inch Pivi Pro touchscreen with onboard navigation.
Engine

The Black features the same engine as the 110 Octa, meaning it has a 4.4-litre turbocharged mild hybrid V8 petrol engine.
This produces a substantial 467kW and 750Nm, which is transmitted to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
It also comes with 6D Dynamics suspension for improved ride comfort even while off-road, and its fuel consumption is pegged at 13.5l/100km.
