New Volvo EX30 Cross Country launched in South Africa – Pricing and features
Volvo has officially launched the new EX30 Cross Country in South Africa.
As its name implies, the Cross Country is a more rugged version of the EX30, adding several new features that enhance its off-road capabilities.
The Cross Country has a starting price of R1,165,000, positioning it as the new flagship of the series.
Powertrain
The new model is exclusively available in the range-topping Ultra specification with a twin motor all-wheel-drive configuration.
The two electric motors (one over each axle) combine to produce an impressive 315kW and 543Nm, letting the crossover sprint from 0 to 100km/h in a blistering 3.7 seconds.
It also has its top speed capped at 180km/h.
Powering all of this is a 69kWh battery with an electric driving range of 427km, equating to an average energy consumption of 18.7kWh/100km.
Volvo claims that the battery can be replenished from 10% to 80% in as little as 26 minutes, provided you use a DC fast charger.
Features

Befitting its 4×4 status, the Cross Country has an improved ground clearance of 190mm, compared to the standard models’ 177mm.
It is propped up on 19-inch five-spoke alloy wheels finished in matte graphite, which are complemented by distinctive matte black aero inserts.
The new EX30 also has flared wheel arches, mud flaps, a roof rack, more pronounced skid plates, LED headlights, and a darker front shield and boot lid that helps to distinguish it from the base units.
Additionally, the front fascia features unique artwork inspired by Sweden’s Kebnekaise mountain range.
Customers can choose from one of five paint options, namely Sand Dune, Cloud Blue, Crystal White, Onyx Black, and Vapour Grey.
Standard equipment on the EV includes a heated multifunction steering wheel, electronically adjustable heated seats, a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, a nine-speaker Harman Kardon stereo, and a 12.3-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
There’s also a range of interior colours to choose from, including Pine (a calm green inspired by Scandinavian forests) and Indigo (a deep blue influenced by the northern lights).
The upholstery is made from various sustainable materials, including a mix of responsibly sourced wool and recycled polyester.
This being a Volvo, you can expect an expansive driver safety and assistance suite, which includes the following:
