New Audi A5 launched in South Africa – Pricing and features
Audi has officially launched the next-generation A5 Sedan in South Africa.
This new model will serve as a replacement for the A4 Sedan and the A5 Sportback (hatchback), which are being retired as part of the company’s ongoing efforts to simplify its lineup.
The new A5 is available in four specifications with prices starting at R1,123,000.
Features
The A5 has been given a fresh look, starting with a wider and flatter Singleframe grille with a three-dimensional honeycomb structure.
The bonnet has an integrated soft nose, allowing the bonnet to sit flush with the front end.
It also has a pronounced spoiler lip and a continuous three-dimensional offset light strip at the back.
Audi has also given the sedan a new bumper, dark diffuser, and rectangular exhaust ports to enhance its sporty appearance.
A range of colour options are available, including three new metallic options – Horizon Blue, Grenadine Red, and Ascari Blue.
Inside, the centerpiece of the cabin is a new “Digital Stage” that combines a 14.5-inch infotainment screen and a 11.9-inch Audi Virtual Cockpit into a single panoramic display.
It also has a configurable heads-up display that can show a 3D visualization of the driver assistance functions, such as identifying cars, cyclists, and pedestrians.
There’s an option to install a third passenger-side 10.9-inch screen that allows occupants to engage with the infotainment, navigation, and media systems, all of which is shielded from the driver’s field of view to avoid distractions.
The infotainment screen uses Android Automotive for its operating system, granting access to third-party applications such as YouTube without needing smartphone pairing.
The carmaker has incorporated Chat GPT as a self-learning voice assistant, which can be accessed via a push-to-talk button on the steering wheel or by saying “Hey Audi.”
The cabin also features 30-colour ambient lighting and decorate inlays made from brushed aluminium, open-pore wood or carbon fibre, depending on the package selected.
It comes standard with a wireless charging pad, a cooled storage compartment, and a Bang & Olufsen stereo.
The base S Line has 16 speakers, while the top-end Black Edition models have 20 speakers, including ones integrated into the headrests that can play personal announcements, such as phone calls and navigation updates.
Other features include LED headlights, 19-inch alloy wheels with run-flat tyres, keyless entry and start, an electric tailgate, adaptive cruise control, parking sensors, a rearview camera, three-zone climate control, and leather upholstery.
The Black Edition models will then throw in a number of dark-themed cosmetics like high-gloss black exterior accents, a black Audi Rings logo, black mirror caps, metallic black alloy rims with red brake calipers, and darkened rear windows.
There’s also an optional panoramic sunroof with liquid crystal technology that can adjust sections of the roof to be clear or shaded.
On top of these, there are technology packages that add items like Matrix LED headlights, a 360-degree camera, a heated steering wheel, heated seats, and S Sport suspension with damper control.
Engine

All four iterations of the A5 are powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol (TFSI) engine, but the output changes depending on the wheel configuration.
The front-wheel-drive (FWD) models generate 146kW and 340Nm, while the Quattro all-wheel-drive units have access to 200kW and 400Nm.
Regardless of the version chosen, the Audi is paired with a seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch automatic transmission.
The FWD sedan can sprint from 0 to 100km/h in 7.8 seconds, while the Quattro can do the same in just 5.9 seconds.
