New Renault Triber Express panel van launched in South Africa – Pricing and features

Renault has officially launched the new Triber Express III in South Africa.

The Express is a light commercial vehicle (LCV) version of the Triber multi-purpose vehicle, which normally seats up to seven people.

“Representing the third generation of its nameplate, Triber Express III LCV builds on the success of the broader Triber range, which was first launched locally in 2020,” said the company.

“Since then, the Triber has established itself as a benchmark for intelligent space usage, value‑driven mobility and everyday practicality. These are qualities that now extend confidently into the commercial space with the arrival of the new Triber Express III LCV.”

Features

The Triber’s rear seats have been removed to create a flat storage area that can accommodate up to 1,500 litres of cargo weighing up to 542kg.

Operators can access the loading area via the rear side doors, which grant easy access even in tight urban spaces.

“This flexibility makes the Triber Express III LCV particularly well suited to a wide range of industries, including urban delivery services, hospitality and tourism, service and maintenance operations, and small to medium-sized enterprises seeking a dependable yet refined business vehicle,” said the carmaker.

The front seats are separated from the storage zone by a metal mesh grid, which also covers the rear windows as a protective anti-theft measure.

While it is primarily aimed at commercial buyers, the Renault still has a number of features.

This includes projector headlights, a dual-tone interior, a fully-digital instrument cluster, air conditioning, and a floating 8.0-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

It also has ABS, electronic brake-force distribution, and two airbags. A rearview camera is is included as drivers cannot see out of the blacked-out rear window.

One optional feature is a special roof rack system engineered and manufactured in South Africa, allowing consumers to support local suppliers.

Engine

The Express is fitted with a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine, which develops 53kW and 96Nm.

This is paired with a five-speed manual gearbox, resulting in a frugal average fuel consumption of 5.5l/100km.

Renault noted that this translates to low running costs, which is an important consideration for cost-conscious business owners and fleet managers.

It also has 182mm of ground clearance and protective skid plates for navigating uneven roads.

The South African pricing for the updated Renault Triber series is as follows:
