New iCAUR 03T in South Africa – Pricing revealed

The pricing for the new iCAUR 03T has been revealed ahead of its imminent launch in South Africa.

iCAUR is the latest car brand to emerge from the Chery Group, joining the ranks alongside Chery, Omoda, Jaecoo, Jetour, and Lepas.

In contrast to its sister brands, iCAUR specializes in new-energy SUVs with boxy retro-styling.

Its first vehicle is the 03T, a battery-electric vehicle (BEV) that will be available in two specifications.

This will be joined by a second model, the V23, which will serve as the brand’s entry-level model in South Africa.

A third model, the V27, is scheduled to arrive in South Africa in the fourth quarter of 2026.

The iCAUR 03T will go on sale on 28 May 2026 at a starting price of R639,900.

Powertrain

The 03T is sold in two specifications, a two-wheel-drive (2WD) and all-wheel-drive (AWD) model.

The 2WD version features a single electric motor mounted over the rear axle, which produces 135kW and 220Nm.

This gives the SUV a 0-100km/h time of 10.5 seconds and a top speed of 150km/h.

The e-motor is powered by a 65.69kWh battery, which provides a NEDC-estimated driving range of 431km.

Alternatively, buyers can grab the AWD model, which gains a second e-motor over the front axle.

The added power source means the AWD iCAUR has a much higher output of 205kW and 385Nm, letting it rocket from 0 to 100km/h in 6.5 seconds.

However, it is electronically limited to the same top speed of 150km/h.

The AWD version also benefits from a slightly larger 69.77kWh battery, giving it a NEDC range of 436km.

The 2WD has an energy consumption of 18.3 kWh/100km while the AWD uses 19.9 kWh/100km.

Both vehicles can be recharged from 10% to 80% in 30 minutes using a DC fast charger.

The 2WD unit comes with four driving modes – Eco, Normal, Sport, and Custom – which expands to nine on the AWD, adding settings for Slippery, Beach, Muddy, Bumpy, and All-Road.

Both versions are equipped with 19-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 245/55 tyres, along with MacPherson front suspension and a rear multi-link suspension setup.

Features

The electric SUV has a 2,715mm wheelbase, which provides ample legroom for five passengers across two rows of seating, according to the automaker.

The boot offers 450 litres of storage space by default. However, the 60:40 rear seats can be folded down to expand the boot to 1,238 litres. There’s also a rear storage box that provides an additional 40 litres.

The 2WD models come standard with automatic climate control, black leather upholstery, ambient lighting, and electrically adjustable front seats with heating and ventilation.

The driver’s seat also features power-operated four-way lumbar adjustment.

The AWD units expand on this with a massage function for the front occupants, as well as an electrically adjustable leg rest for the front passenger.

Both models feature a 50W induction charging pad, and 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment display with wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto.

The 2WD has an an eight-speaker iCAUR stereo, while the 03T AWD gains a 12-speaker Infinity sound system.

The 03T also has an Advanced Driver Assistance System with the following:

  • Automatic Emergency Braking with Vehicle, Pedestrian & Bicycle Recognition
  • Adaptive Cruise Control
  • Traffic Jam Assist
  • Lane Departure Warning & Prevention
  • Lane-Keep Assist
  • Blind Spot Detection
  • Front Collision Warning
