New Ford Everest Tremor coming to South Africa very soon

The new Ford Everest Tremor is scheduled to launch in South Africa in the fourth quarter of 2026, adding an even more capable model to the Adventure SUV’s line-up.

The Tremor was first announced for our market in May 2026, following a massive update that made several changes to both the Everest and Ranger model selection.

Fans of the brand will know that the Tremor nameplate has already been introduced to the current-gen Ranger bakkie series, but this will be the first time the model is added to the Everest.

In fact, Ford South Africa stated that the decision to launch the Everest Tremor was largely due to the success of the equivalent Ranger, providing a more off-road capable model.

“The Everest Tremor builds on the exceptional comfort, space, refinement and high-tech features offered in the Everest, while enabling adventurous owners to go further and conquer more challenging off-road terrain with confidence,” Sunil Sewmohan, Director of Product Marketing for Ford South Africa, said when the vehicle was first announced.

What makes the Tremor different

The Everest shares a platform and drivetrain selection with the Ranger, meaning it is already a capable off-road vehicle.

The new Tremor is meant to dial this aspect of the SUV up to 11, featuring several exclusive upgrades to make driving over rough terrain easier and more comfortable.

Most notably, it will have Bilstein Position Sensitive Dampers and unique off-road suspension tuning to deliver a smoother ride.

It also has General Grabber AT3 all-terrain tyres, which help to give it 26mm of additional ground clearance over the standard models.

For reference, the normal Everest has 220mm of clearance, so the Tremor will have 246mm.

Additionally, the Tremor will gain an exclusive Rock Crawl drive mode for improved capability on loose and rocky terrain.

As for its engine, the new SUV will be one of the Everest’s top trim levels, gaining access to the brand’s 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 diesel block with 184kW and 600Nm.

Gear changes are handled by a 10-speed automatic shifter, which connects to Ford’s advanced four-wheel-drive system.

Fuel consumption averages out to 8.5l/100km, giving the Everest a range of 941km on an 80-litre tank. It can also tow up to 3,500kg.

Beyond its performance enhancements, the new SUV will have exclusive details such as a honeycomb grille with auxiliary LED lamps, a steel bash plate, heavy-duty side steps, Tremor badges, and a unique Command Grey paint scheme.

Similarly, the interior has Tremor-embossed leather seats, ebony surface finishes, and all-weather floor mats. This is in addition to all of the Everest’s standard features like a Sync4 infotainment screen.

Ford said that the Tremor will arrive in South Africa in Q4 2026 with pricing and the full specification sheet to be announced closer to release.

Note that, on the Ranger, the Tremor falls between the Sport and the Wildtrak in terms of pricing.

Assuming the Everest is the same, the Tremor’s price tag should land somewhere between the R1,149,000 Sport and the R1,244,000 Wildtrak, though it remains to be seen if this will be the case.
