Nissan has unveiled the 2021 Nissan Patrol Nismo – and while its announcement is close to April Fools’ Day, this SUV is far from a joke.
This large Land Cruiser rival gets a track-inspired exterior, luxury car refinement, and a massive engine.
The 2021 Nissan Patrol Nismo is based on the Platinum City trim specification, and was unveiled to the world through a virtual event hosted at Expo 2020 Dubai.
“We designed the Nissan Patrol Nismo with a unique customer in mind, one with a true passion for performance,” said Mitsunori Morita, Chief Designer for Nismo.
It features a new front fascia with a honeycomb mesh that accentuates the sheer size of the front.
New front lamps are added, too, and horizontal chrome lines are embellished with Nismo nomenclature.
The rear gets F1-inspired LED fog lights that shine as bright as the tail lamps, and a symmetrical rear bumper with dark chrome inserts.
A signature Nismo red design line adds finer sporty details to the exterior; while the 22-inch, two-tone aluminium wheels sport the Nismo logo.
The SUV’s tuned suspension also features Bilstein shock absorbers, which provide sportier and improved handling, according to the company.
As you move inside, it is clear this SUV is not just another Patrol.
The front seats are treated to Alcantara with side leather, and red carbon fibre inserts with Nismo logos around the cabin create a sporty aesthetic.
The centre console also underwent a design overhaul for this edition, and the dashboard gets a new look, too.
Nissan Intelligent Mobility technologies are then fitted as standard, and allow functions like intelligent emergency braking with pedestrian detection, intelligent forward-collision warning, smart rear view mirror, and high-beam assist.
Technology upgrades also include Apple CarPlay compatibility, wireless charging pads, and USB ports.
Final improvements to the cabin were then made by reducing frame vibration and upgrading the air-conditioning to cool rear passengers more effectively.
When ordering your Patrol Nismo, you will have a selection of four exterior colours: White Pearl, Black Solid, and Grey and Silver metallic.
“The 2021 Patrol Nismo’s design is driven by function, to provide drivers with motorsports-inspired aerodynamics and styling, enhanced handling capabilities, and unmatched agility,” said Nissan.
As such, a 5.6-litre, V8 engine producing 319kW of power and 560Nm of torque has been installed.
Each engine is tuned by the Takumi craftsmen team from Nissan, a team of four highly-trained engine builders who are allowed to hand-build the Nissan GT-R engines at the Yokohama plant.
To further improve performance, aerodynamic elements have been tuned to achieve zero lift force with the help of a new roof spoiler, a sculpted front end, and a cumulative wheel weight reduction of 4.5kg.
