New Ford Territory officially goes on sale in South Africa – What’s available

The new Ford Territory has officially landed in South African showrooms.

The five-seater SUV is available in three flavours with prices starting at R576,000 without and R590,000 with a 4-year/120,000km service plan included.

Standard features

Buyers of the new Territory will have their choice between the entry-level Ambiente, mid-spec Trend, and range-topping Titanium trim levels.

At the bottom, the Ambiente gets LED daytime running lights, front and rear fog lamps, keyless entry and start, a 7-inch digital driver’s display, a 12.3-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, voice recognition, six speakers, a multifunction steering wheel, cruise control, rear parking sensors, hill-launch assist, ABS with electronic brake assist, and six airbags.

On the design front, the introductory model sees 18-inch alloy wheels, a black grille, an aluminium roof rack, metallic lower-body finishes, rear privacy (tinted) glass, a light grey interior headliner, and cloth seats.

Moving on, the Trend boasts automatic headlight activation, rain-sensing wipers, an electric tailgate, dual-zone climate control, and a wireless smartphone charger.

The mid-ranger also wears the same 18-inch wheels as the Ambiente, but comes with a chrome grille, satin aluminium rocker panel finishes, and vinyl upholstery.

Buyers can then expect the pinnacle Territory Titanium to bring automatic high-beam functionality, a 12-inch driver’s display, two extra speakers for a total of eight, electric front seats, a powered moon roof, front parking sensors, collision mitigation, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and blind-spot monitoring.

The flagship is visually differentiated from its namesakes through chrome door handles, exclusive 19-inch wheels, a blue interior headliner, leather seat covers, a leather steering wheel, and ambient lighting.

With the rear seats up, the Ford SUV’s luggage capacity comes in at a decent 448 litres, expanding to 1,422 litres once the backrests are folded down.

Regardless of which trim you end up going for, the Territory is be driven by a turbocharged 1.8-litre petrol engine with a power output of 138kW and 318Nm.

This is delivered to the front axle via a seven-speed, dual-clutch automatic transmission with fuel consumption for the setup pegged at 7.0l/100km, lending the SUV a maximum claimed driving range of 857km on one tank.

Additionally, every model provides Normal, Eco, Sport, and Mountain drive modes selectable through a rotary dial in the cabin.
