LDV is entering the South African market this week with the new T60 which is poised to take on the likes of the Toyota Hilux and Ford Ranger.
Sources have confirmed to TopAuto that the double cab will be available in seven specifications from a starting price of R480,000.
Four trim levels will be on offer comprising Elite, Pro, Max Pro, and Max Luxe; with two diesel powertrains between them.
T60 specifications
The new LDV T60 Elite and Pro variants feature a 2.0-litre, turbocharged diesel motor generating 120kW and 375Nm, which can be paired to either a six-speed manual or automatic gearbox.
The Max variants sport a bi-turbocharged power unit that elevates output to a heady 160kW and 500Nm, and they get a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic shifter.
The Elite is available in 4×2 and 4×4 guise whereas the Pro and Max are exclusively sold in 4×4. A maxed braked towing capacity of 3,000kg is on the cards as well as a payload capacity of around 900kg.
Depending on the selected model, the LDV will offer amenities such as a 10.25-inch infotainment system with smartphone mirroring, a leather multifunction steering wheel, climate control, a reverse camera, cruise control, six airbags, and a tyre-pressure monitoring system.
The Elite is clearly the workhorse in the family based on visual cues, as it gets a smaller black grille, black plastic bumpers, no roof rails, and basic wheels.
The Pro and Max are more catered to lifestyle buyers with their prominent chrome-plated front fascias, skinny LED daytime running lights, roof rails, wheel arch cladding, and stylish rims.
