Ford South Africa has added a new trim specification to the EcoSport range called Black.
The Black is based on the Ambiente trim, but adds several dark-hued design elements to differentiate it from the rest of the line-up.
“With the EcoSport Black, we have given the EcoSport a sportier and exclusive character that will appeal to customers seeking a stylish vehicle that has a bold and unique personality,” said Doreen Mashinini, GM of Marketing at Ford South Africa.
What’s new
The new EcoSport Black receives a grille and skid plate that is finished in black, black decals on the bonnet, and a black roof with integrated roof rails.
On the sides there is a continuation of the bonnet’s black decals, black mirror caps, and 16-inch black alloy wheels – while the rear gets a black spare wheel cover as standard.
Every customer will also have a choice between five exterior colours that “amplify the exclusive black detailing” – according to Ford.
These are Diamond White, Moondust Silver, Smoke, Blue Lightning, and Canyon Ridge.
Standard interior features then consist of all-round electric windows, manual air-conditioning, and a 4.2-inch infotainment display.
The car’s SYNC infotainment system is Bluetooth compatible, works with voice commands, and plays through a six-speaker layout.
In addition, the EcoSport Black features an integrated perimeter alarm and engine immobiliser, remote locking, and rear parking sensors.
Safety is taken care of through the fitment of six airbags and ISOFIX child-seat mounting – as well as ABS, emergency brake assist, and electronic stability control with traction control.
When it comes to power, the Black is treated to a 1.5-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine that produces 91kW and 151Nm of torque, and sports a six-speed automatic gearbox.
Price
The new Ford EcoSport Black 1.5 6AT has a South African price of R336,900.
All EcoSport models are sold with Ford Protect, providing a 4-year/120,000km comprehensive warranty, a 4-year/60,000km service plan, and 3-year/unlimited kilometre roadside assistance.
