New GAC GS3 Emzoom launched in South Africa – Pricing and features

GAC Motors has officially opened its doors in South Africa with the debut of the new GS3 Emzoom crossover.

The Chinese automaker announced its entry into the local market all the way back in January, with a portfolio of three models inbound for our shores between now and mid-2025.

The first one to arrive, the Emzoom, is now available in three derivatives from a starting price of R469,900.

GAC plans to have as many as 20 dealers in South Africa before the end of the year through which the Emzoom will be freely available.

Engine

The Emzoom family is driven by a 1.5-litre, turbo-petrol engine pushing out 130kW and 270Nm, exclusively meshing with a seven-speed, dual-clutch automatic gearbox that feeds power to the front wheels.

The setup reports an average fuel usage of 6.18l/100km and enables the crossover to sprint to triple-digit speeds in eight seconds flat.

Each model also provides Eco, Comfort, and Sport drive modes, exemplified by a change in the instrument cluster theme.

Features

At the bottom of the Emzoom range is the Comfort specification, which offers 18-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry, automatic airconditioning, a multifunction steering wheel, fabric/synthetic leather seating, a 3.5-inch driver’s display, a 10.25-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Carbitlink smartphone mirroring, cruise control, rear parking sensors, a reverse camera, hill-start assist, tyre-pressure monitoring, and an electronic stability programme.

In the middle sits the Emzoom Executive, equipped with full leather upholstery, second-row aircon vents, a 7-inch driver’s panel, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, traffic sign recognition, intelligent speed limit control, and lane-departure warning.

At the top of the portfolio you’ll find the R-Style, which is further delivered with automatic headlights, an automatic tailgate, a sunroof, an electric driver’s seat, ambient lighting, a wireless charger, hill-descent control, a surround-view camera system, high-beam assist, and a more athletic body kit underscored by unique bumpers, a spoiler, wheels, and exhaust.
