You can now call Uber to take you on a safari in South Africa – Pricing

Uber launched its newest offering in South Africa this week, enabling travellers to call the e-hailing service to take them on a safari ride.
The service, aptly coined Uber Safari, is priced at a flat fee of R3,550 per trip for a maximum of four people, and it’s available to book up to 90 days in advance via Uber Reserve.
Uber Safari will be available exclusively via the Uber app from 2 October 2024 until 1 February 2025, and riders requesting a trip must be 18 years and older
“With limited availability every Friday and Saturday, it’s fastest fingers first and we encourage you to request in advance,” the company said.
It added that once your reservation is confirmed, it can be cancelled free of charge at the latest 60 minutes before the pick-up time. If cancelled by the driver, you will be refunded.
What you get
Uber Safari rides can currently be requested in Cape Town only and take passengers to the prestigious Aquila Private Game Reserve located about 180km away, or just under a three-hour drive.
Pickups take place at 09h30 in the morning, meaning you’ll get there around mid-day, after which you’ll get into a more traditional safari vehicle to be treated to a two-to-three-hour game drive through Aquila.
Also included in the fee are a “welcome toast” as well as lunch.
Following the festivities your Uber Safari driver will take you back to Cape Town, with the expected time of arrival being around 18h00 in the afternoon.
“We’re excited to partner with Uber to extend our bucket list wildlife experiences to their customers. Uber Safari allows folks to book and enjoy an unforgettable day at Aquila, where they’ll get to experience the Big 5 in an easy and luxurious way,” said Johan van Schalkwyk, Commercial Officer of Aquila Collection.
“It’s the perfect combination of modern convenience and natural beauty, all while supporting wildlife conservation efforts that are vital to preserving South Africa’s biodiversity.”
