General Motors is getting into Formula 1.
Its Cadillac team received final approval, and will join the racing circuit in March 2026, according to a statement on Friday.
The squad is a joint venture between TWG Motorsports and GM.
“For the past years, we have worked hand in hand with GM to lay a robust foundation for an extraordinary F1 entry,” Dan Towriss, chief executive officer of TWG, said in the statement.
F1’s popularity has surged in recent years, especially in the US.
American automakers have had limited success on the circuit, but are making a big push now. Ford Motor Co. plans to reenter the competition next year.
