New Audi Q7 and SQ7 launched in South Africa – Pricing and features

The updated Audi Q7 and SQ7 are now available to order in South Africa, giving motorists a choice of two luxurious SUVs.
The Q7 has a starting price of R1,958,000, while the SQ7 goes for a minimum of R2,540,500.
Engines
Each model is currently sold with a single powertrain, though Audi has stated that it will launch an additional 45 TDI diesel engine for the Q7 later this year.
For now, the Q7 is limited to its 55 TFSI specification, which takes the form of a 3.0-litre, six-cylinder petrol plant with a generous 250kW and 500Nm.
This is enough to let the SUV race from 0 to 100km/h in 5.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 250km/h despite its large frame.
The Q7 also benefits from the Quattro permanent four-wheel-drive system and the Tiptronic eight-speed automatic gearbox, resulting in an average fuel consumption of 9.9l/100km.
The SQ7, meanwhile, is upgraded to an even more potent 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 powerplant, which generates an impressive 373kW and 770Nm.
Consequently, the sleeker SUV can make the 0-100km/h sprint in just 4.1 seconds before capping out at an electronically-limited max speed of 250km/h.
It uses the same Quattro system and transmission as the Q7, and consumes approximately 11.9l/100km.
Also important to mention is that the two Audi models features electronic air suspension with continuously adaptive damping for greater comfort.
The SQ7 has a sport-tuned version of this suspension, which is an optional extra for the Q7.
The suspension can raise or lower the ride height by up to 90mm depending on the car’s speed and road conditions, with a lower height on the highway and a greater clearance when off-road.
Furthermore, the SQ7 comes standard with all-wheel steering, which lets the back wheels turn by up to five degrees in the opposite direction at low speeds, thereby reducing the turning circle by one metre.

Features
Visually, the Q7 is rocking a new set of HD Matrix LED headlights, which are a first for the flagship SUV.
These are comprised of 24 LEDs and a high-power laser diode, which activates at speeds over 70km/h to significantly increase the high-beam’s range.
The Matrix lights are instantly recognizable thanks to a blue ambient light incorporated into the design, and are further complemented by a set of digital daytime running lights.
The signature Audi Singleframe grille, meanwhile, features an octagonal design with vertical inlays and has been slightly repositioned to better align with the headlamps and a new set of colour-framed air intakes.
At the back, you’ll find a pair of digital OLED taillamps, which work in tandem with the car’s rear proximity sensors to flash and warn the driver when another car comes within two metres.
The starter Q7 is sold in a Platinum Edition trim level, but customers can upgrade this to the Black Edition, which as its name suggests, adds black finishes to several components like the side mirror caps and grille, as well as privacy glass for the rear windows.
These fittings are all in addition to the equipment already available on the luxury Audis, such as keyless entry and start, a panoramic sunroof, a leather multifunction steering wheel with paddle shifters, seven seats with leather upholstery, heated electronic front Sports seats with lumbar support, four-zone climate control, a wireless charger, a Bang & Olufsen stereo, an Audi Cockpit digital driver display, and 10.9-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and onboard navigation.
It also comes with cruise control, lane-keep assist, front and rear parking sensors, a rearview camera, and six airbags.
Buyers can further enhance their purchase with extras such as a 360-degree camera, blind-spot monitoring, and a heads-up display.
