Volvo Car South Africa announces new boss

Volvo Cars SA Grant Locke

Volvo Car South Africa (VCSA) has appointed Grant Locke as its Managing Director.

In this role, Locke will lead VCSA’s operations with a focus on driving strategic growth, including advancing the company’s electrification ambitions in South Africa.

“We are pleased to welcome Grant to Volvo Car South Africa,” said VCSA CFO Marishka Govender.

“His blend of commercial acumen and leadership in digital transformation will strengthen the business as we continue to accelerate our growth locally.”

Locke has over 20 years of experience in financial services, and previously served as the Global Head of Financial Services at Volvo Cars.

Before that, he was the Head of Commercial for Volvo’s Mobility and Financial Services division.

Locke succeeds Tarciso Trivino, who took on the role in October 2024.

“I am delighted to be joining Volvo Car South Africa at such a pivotal moment for the brand and the broader industry,” said Locke.

“I look forward to working with the talented team at VCSA to build on the company’s strong foundation and help shape the future of mobility.”

This leadership news comes as VCSA enters what it has described as “the next phase of its network restructuring,” which involves improving its national dealer network.

This includes rebuilding its service coverage for existing clients, and establishing a “robust distribution and service network” across South Africa.

The company also remains committed to bringing new vehicles into the South African market.

It recently announced that it would be bringing the new EX30 Cross Country vehicle to South Africa in the third quarter of 2025.

Volvo EX30 Cross Country

The EX30 Cross Country is a rugged derivative of the popular EX30 electric crossover.

It features enhancements like a front shield and bootlid with a unique dark finish, more muscular skid plates, wheel arch extensions, and increased ride height.

In South Africa, it will exclusively be available in its Ultra Twin Performance configuration, which is the top-end version of this vehicle.

The model will therefore include features like a heated steering wheel, panoramic sunroof, power-adjustable front seats, and over 15 driver assistance features.

Pricing and additional specifications will be revealed closer to the vehicle’s local launch.
