The City of Cape Town is bringing back its popular Traffic Fine Roadshow this weekend.
The event, which is being held at the Brackenfell Civic Centre, will be open from Saturday, 16 May until Friday, 22 May.
This time around, the roadshow will also be open on Sunday.
The Civic Centre is located on the corner of Old Paarl and Paradys Street.
The Traffic Fine Roadshow is a service introduced by the City to make it far easier for motorists to clear any outstanding fines, often at a discounted rate.
They can also seek assistance with their municipal accounts.
“The roadshows make the often arduous task of fine and warrant representations across different magisterial districts far easier, by offering all services at a single service point,” said the City.
It brings together the local Traffic Service, Revenue Department, Municipal Court representatives and other internal departments.
Motorists who attend the roadshow are able to do the following:
- Pay outstanding traffic fines
- Apply for traffic fine reductions
- Remove administrative marks on the NaTIS system
- Enquire about and finalise warrants or summonses
- Enquire about municipal rates and services accounts
- Enquire about fines for vehicles registered in their name
- Apply for a reduction in fines issued within the City’s jurisdiction
The event opens today (15 May 2026), but is not yet open to the general public. It is currently restricted to city staff and public members with “bulk representations” of 20 or more fines.
Starting tomorrow, the roadshow will be open to all members of the public until Friday 22 May.
On all days, the event will start at 08h30, However, the end times will be decided by roadshow coordinators based on demand and the staff’s ability to assist everyone in the queue.
It operates on a ‘first-come, first-served’ basis with 280 people served per day.
Individuals who are still in the queue at the cut-off time will be given tickets that allow them to skip the queue and be served first when they return the following day.
Attendees are required to have one of the following documents on them to be assisted: a South African Identity Document (ID), South African Driving Licence, South African Passport, or Traffic Register Certificate.
A popular way to deal with fines

The Traffic Fine Roadshow gives motorists a straightforward path to clear all their fines.
At the same time, it allows the City to clear a large portion of its vehicle-related admin with a single event.
The most recent roadshow, held in Athlone in March, received more than 3,600 people who finalised reductions on traffic fines and warrants valued at nearly R16 million.
“The roadshows bring services closer to the public and offer an alternative to the rigidity of the system that, on a normal day, requires representations to be made at specific courts,” said Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, Alderman JP Smith.
“We do everything possible to have them as frequently as resources allow.”
“It is quite the logistical exercise and we thank all staff members and departments who have a hand in what has become an incredibly popular service.”
Payment options include cash and card, with numerous ATMs located near the facilities.
If an individual is unable to attend in person, they may send someone on their behalf, provided they produce their own identity document, a copy of the ID of the person who sent them, and an affidavit authorising the person to act on their behalf.
