BMW 3 Series Mzansi Edition – A new South African exclusive

The local BMW 3 Series range has gained a new offering, the South African-exclusive 3 Series Mzansi Edition.

The specification pack is available on three models – 318i, 320i, 320d – and delivers exclusive interior and exterior elements.

“In keeping with the Mzansi Edition mandate, this version of the BMW 3 Series looks even sportier from the outside, while a more luxurious and state-of-the-art setting has been created in the cabin,” said the company.

Locally-inspired

The 3 Series Mzansi Edition range comes as standard with a locally-inspired design.

This consists of the M Sport Package, which adds sporty bumpers and wheels, as well as the M Shadow Line package that brings blackened exterior detailing on the grille and LED headlights.

A unique black front splitter with carbon fibre inserts also lends this model a particularly sporty front end.

Another highlight in the new 3 Series Mzansi Edition is the LED backlighting behind the grille, a feature that was previously only available in the X6 SUV.

Along the sides, carbon fibre mirror caps, red M Sport brake callipers, 19-inch M light-alloy wheels, LED door projectors, and high-gloss black side sills continue the dynamic design.

At the rear, the new Mzansi Edition is set apart from the rest of the range by black chrome tailpipes, a high-gloss black rear diffuser, and a carbon fibre rear spoiler.

The premium look continues on the inside, where the Mzansi Edition is fitted with several premium options as standard.

This includes the BMW Live Cockpit digital instrument cluster, a sunroof, ambient lighting, and M Sport seat belts.

The seat upholstery is then a blend of Alcantara and Sensatec synthetic leather.

Power

Both the 318i and 320i variants of the new Mzansi Edition are fitted with a 2.0-litre, turbo-petrol motor.

The engines develop 115kW and 250Nm, and 135kW and 300Nm respectively – and drive the rear wheels in both specifications.

Combined fuel consumption then comes in at 6.3l/100km for both models.

The 320d comes with a 2.0-litre, turbo-diesel engine.

This model delivers 140kW and 400Nm, achieves a combined fuel consumption of 6.3l/100km, and completes the 100km/h sprint in 6.8 seconds.

All models are paired with an eight-speed Sport automatic transmission with paddle shifters.

The South African pricing for the new BMW 3 Series Mzansi Edition is as follows:

  • BMW 318i Mzansi Edition – R831,524
  • BMW 320i Mzansi Edition – R863,692
