New Audi A3 – South African pricing and specifications

Audi has released the South African pricing for the new A3 range – starting at R561,000 for the A3 35 TFSI.

This comes days before the local launch of the A3 on 29 July.

Alongside the pricing, the company also released the standard specifications for the South African market.

Standard equipment

The Audi A3 offers one of the more premium cabins in its segment, with a leather multifunction steering wheel, aluminium scuff plates and inserts, stylish cloth seats, ambient lighting, a digital instrument cluster, and the MMI Radio Plus infotainment system.

Furthermore, it boasts a range of high-tech features such as cruise control, multiple drive modes, manual air conditioning, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, rain-sensing wipers, and automatic headlights with daytime running lights.

In terms of safety, the A3 is equipped with hill hold assist and six airbags. It then scores a 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating.

Engine options

The Audi A3 35 TFSI models are driven by a 1.4-litre, turbo-petrol engine paired with a tiptronic transmission – which delivers 110kW and 250Nm to the front wheels.

This assures a 0-100km/h acceleration of 8.2 seconds, a top speed of 219km/h, and a combined fuel consumption of 6.2l/100km.

In the A3 40 TFSI and S3 TFSI derivatives, you will find a 2.0-litre, turbo-petrol motor connected to an S Tronic dual-clutch gearbox.

This delivers 140kW and 320Nm in the A3, and 213kW and 400Nm in the S3.

The A3 40 TFSI sprints to 100km/h in 7.4 seconds and to a top speed of 241km/h.

The S3 is then the most powerful model in the A3 range until the RS3 derivatives arrive, with a 0-100km/h acceleration of 4.9 seconds and an electronically-limited top speed of 250km/h.
