The Department of Energy has released the official petrol and diesel prices for October 2021, which will come into effect on Wednesday, 6 October.

The following price changes will take place this week:

  • Petrol 93 – Decrease of 4 cents per litre
  • Petrol 95 – Decrease of 1 cent per litre
  • Diesel (0.05% and 0.005%) – Increase of 22.80 cents per litre
  • Illuminating Paraffin – Increase of 43 cents per litre

“The average international product prices for petrol, diesel, and illuminating paraffin increased during the period under review,” said the department.

“The rand appreciated against the US dollar during the period under review, on average, when compared to the previous period. The average rand/US dollar exchange rate for the period 27 August 2021 to 30 September 2021 was 14.5654, compared to 14.7791 during the previous period. This led to a lower contribution to the basic fuel prices.”
