New Lexus UX F Sport now available in South Africa

Lexus has introduced the F Sport trim for its UX hybrid SUV in South Africa, with this new model slotting in at the top of the line-up.

The Lexus UX range now comprises three models in total, with the new range-topper coming in at R874,800.

F Sport specifications

The UX F Sport features LED headlamps with L-shaped daytime running lights, an exclusive grille with a vertical mesh pattern, model-specific front and rear bumpers, jet-black exterior highlights, and unique 18-inch alloy wheels.

Under the shell, it receives a higher-response Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) system with a rear performance damper, which positively contributes to responsiveness and handling agility, said Lexus.

Along with the AVS comes an additional drive mode, called Sport S+, that must be selected to activate the adaptive dampers.

Inside the cabin, F Sport-exclusive additions carry on in the form of a digital instrument cluster with a “movable virtual ring”, as well as front sport seats made with a “highly supportive integrated-foaming technique first developed for Lexus F models,” said the company.

The UX F Sport also offers a 9-inch infotainment display with smartphone mirroring, automatic air conditioning, shifter paddles, leather upholstery, and aluminium pedals to round off an upmarket look.

The Lexus Safety System is standard, too, bringing adaptive cruise control, a brake-synchronised pre-crash system, lane keep assist with departure alert, and adaptive high-beam assist.

The interior trim can be chosen in three different colours – Flare Red, White, and F Black – while nine exterior paint colours are available.

Power

As with the rest of the UX range, the F Sport is only available in the “250h” configuration.

This means it is equipped with a 2.0-litre, petrol engine that develops 107kW – working in conjunction with an electric motor that combines to produce a total system output of 135kW and 180Nm.

This setup allows the UX 250h F Sport to sprint to 100km/h in 8.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 177km/h.

Combined fuel consumption is then 4.5l/100km.
