New Nissan Terra sold out in South Africa

The new Nissan Terra – recently made available in South Africa in limited numbers – has sold out.

“Terra availability was limited in South Africa and we can now confirm all remaining vehicles have since been allocated to customers,” Nissan South Africa told TopAuto.

The automaker did not reveal how many Terra units were sold in the country, or whether it will bring in more units in the future.

Nissan Terra specs

The Nissan Terra is a seven-seater SUV that is sold in three trim lines in South Africa – XE, SE, and LE.

The range can be had in both 4×2 and 4×4 specifications, with the entry-level manual XE starting at R596,900. The top-of-the-line automatic LE goes for R853,900.

A 2.5-litre, turbo-diesel motor generating 140kW and 450Nm powers every Terra, and is paired to either a six-speed manual or seven-speed automatic transmission.

While the two cheaper XE and SE derivatives are both available in two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive, the range-topping LE is exclusively offered with a 4×4 drivetrain.

Combined fuel consumption ranges between 8.0-8.3l/100km for the 78-litre fuel tank.

The Terra sits on the same platform as the Nissan Navara bakkie and comes in at 4,900mm long, 1,865mm wide, and 1,865mm tall – with ground clearance being a segment-leading 243mm.

Next to its bakkie-based, seven-seater competitors like the Toyota FortunerIsuzu mu-X, and Ford Everestthe Terra is the largest.

Its kerb weight of 2,050kg also makes it the second heaviest, falling only behind the Ford.

The SUV then supports a maximum braked towing capacity of 2,100kg, as well as a maximum cargo capacity between 635kg and 667kg – depending on the model.

Standard features on the SUV include a rear-view camera, “cinema-style” seating, LED headlights with daytime running lights, all-round parking sensors, chrome finishes, floor ambient lighting, and model-specific fabric or leather upholsteries.
