The new Opel Mokka crossover has launched in South Africa in two trim levels at a starting price of R469,900.
The Mokka Elegance and Mokka GS Line are both powered by the same powertrain and are differentiated by distinctive exterior styling and interior features.
Equipment
The new Opel Mokka is one of the first models to feature the Visor-design front grille, which is flanked by eco-LED bulbs in the Elegance and full-LED matrix lights in the GS Line.
The rear tailgate sees a central Mokka badge in distinctive font and thin LED lights on each model, while both Mokkas sit on 17-inch wheels.
To stand out next to the Elegance specification, the GS Line then comes with dark tinted rear windows, a black roof, dark alloys, and a black interior headliner.
Inside the cabin, standard equipment includes heated front seats, climate control, daytime running lights, a multifunction steering wheel, rain-sensing wipers, automatic lights, cruise control, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 7-inch infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Additionally, the range offers blind-spot detection, hill-start assist, forward brake assist with pedestrian detection, speed sign recognition, lane keep assist, and driver attention alert.
On the pricier GS Line, owners further get a larger 10-inch central display with built-in navigation, a 12-inch driver’s display, leather upholstery, electric lumbar support for the driver seat, keyless entry and start, active lane-keep assist with departure warnings, adaptive cruise control, and forward collision avoidance.
Engine
Powering the new Opel Mokka line-up is a 1.2-litre, turbo-petrol engine producing 96kW and 230Nm, paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
With a gross vehicle mass of 1,550kg – 120kg lower than before – the crossover achieves a combined fuel consumption of 6.1l/100km.
The new Opel also supports a maximum towing capacity of 600kg and a cargo capacity of 310 litres, with ground clearance at max load coming in at 160mm.
