The South African Festival of Motoring makes its return this year, following a two-year postponement as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The largest industry-supported motor show in Africa will be held this August from Friday the 26th to Sunday the 28th at Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit in Midrand, Gauteng.
What to expect
The 2022 Festival of Motoring will give motorists the opportunity to see some of their favourite cars on display.
Over 20 automotive manufacturers will be in attendance at the festival, and the confirmed brands currently include Alfa Romeo, Abarth, Citroen, Fiat, Jeep, Mercedes-Benz, Mopar, Opel, Peugeot, and Toyota – all of which will be showcasing their latest models.
Experience platforms are also open to visitors, allowing enthusiasts to drive or be driven in the latest cars.
A wide range of vehicle types will be on offer with everything from electric cars to light commercial vehicles, and drivers will be able to go for a spin on either the Kyalami Grand Prix circuit or the Dunlop Grandtrek 4×4 off-road course, depending on the vehicle.
“These experiences are core to the Festival of Motoring’s success as they provide a unique way for the consumer to see, touch and feel various and favourite brands on one platform,” said Show Director Judy Maharaj.
The festival will also see a number of events, such as the Speed Challenge, where a few of the country’s racing legends will drive a variety of cars around the track in a race against the clock.
The Sunbet ZX10 Master’s Cup will hold an official round at the festival for the motorbike enthusiasts out there, and there will also be drifting and rally driving demonstrations.
As an event for the whole family, the festival will also offer junior karting circuit, a gaming zone, DJ sessions, as well as a dedicated kid’s play area.
Additionally, over 150 exhibitors will be displaying their automotive products, services, lifestyle, outdoor, and customized vehicle offerings to the public.
Ticket prices for the festival are as follows:
- General access adults – R250
- General access children aged 3-12 – R50
A hospitality package is also available, granting access to a premium club suite, reserved parking, a hot lap session in a luxury supercar, and a culinary experience with celebrity chef Reuben Riffel.
