Makro and Red Bull are running a competition in select stores that lets buyers of certain Red Bull products test out their skills on a Formula 1 racing simulator.
The promotion is currently active and will run until 5 September 2022, and participants stand a chance to win Red Bull Racing-themed prizes.
How to compete
To get a turn in the driver seat of Makro’s F1 experience, you will have to buy a 250ml Red Bull energy drink in one of seven flavours and then make your way over to the simulator to get in line.
“Customers shall receive automatic entry into the competition via Makro loyalty when purchasing one of the participating products,” said the retailer.
The fastest lap times of the day will then be recorded and displayed on a board, and when the competition ends in September, the overall winners with the best times over the course of the promotion will be contacted to receive their prizes.
The prizes consist of the following:
- 1st Prize – Red Bull Racing Helmet (1 per store)
- 2nd Prize – Red Bull Cap (1 per store)
- 3rd Prize – Red Bull Cap (1 per store)
- 4th Prize – Red Bull Bag (1 per store)
- 5th Prize – Red Bull Bag (1 per store)
- 6th Prize – Red Bull Bag (1 per store)
- National grand prize – Red Bull Racing Helmet, Red Bull Jacket, Red Bull racing cap, Red Bull racing bag, Red Bull Racing T-shirt, and Red Bull travel mug
These prizes are valued at R9,000 in total, said Makro.

Only 14 out of the 22 Makro stores around South Africa are participating in the Red Bull F1 promotion.

“The prizes shall be distributed randomly to the 67 (sixty-seven) winners, randomly drawn from qualifying entries received from all the participating Makro stores nationally,” said the company.
