BMW has revealed the South African pricing of the new 7 Series which is set to go on sale globally during the fourth quarter of 2022.

The line-up of ultra-grand sedans will consist of three models, including one electric derivative in the i7.

The indicative domestic pricing for the new 7 Series, as provided by BMW, is as follows:

  • BMW 740d xDrive – R2,280,000
  • BMW i7 xDrive60 – R2,825,000

Customers will also have the option of adding the M Sport Package, which will put another R75,000 on the price tag of the above-listed models.

Upgrading to the M Sport Package Pro, meanwhile, will add a total of R115,000 to the original price.

Ultimate luxury

The new 7 Series is the ultimate in luxury from BMW.

At 5.39 metres in length, it is 131mm-longer than the outgoing model now offering even more generous interior space and a demanding presence on the road, said the manufacturer.

The high-end sedan is fitted with Swarovski crystal headlights, a kidney grille with illuminated surrounds, dynamic lighting with graphical projections, and 19-inch alloy wheels or larger.

In the cabin, the exclusivity is heightened with either fine wood or carbon trim finishes and Veganza – a “leather-like” material – seats, and optional extras include a selection of four interior colours and front armrest heaters.

Additional standard amenities include four-zone climate control, a panoramic glass roof, Bowers & Wilkins surround sound with speakers integrated into the headrests, a 12.3-inch driver’s display, a 14.9-inch infotainment unit, parking assist, steering and lane control assist, active navigation, automatic speed limit assist, route monitoring, traffic light recognition, lane change assist, and a maneuver assistant

For the apex of in-car entertainment, buyers can also install a 31.3-inch Theatre Screen with an 8K resolution that folds down from the roof at the rear.

All-electric i7

The electric i7 will be powered by a 101.7kWh battery hooked up to two electric motors, which will split 400kW and an incredible 745Nm between each wheel.

This lets the behemoth of a BMW sprint to 100km/h in 4.9 seconds and continue to a top speed of 240km/h.

Maximum driving range is then estimated to be between 590-625km and a fast-charging outlet will see the battery go from 0-80% in 34 minutes, said the automaker.
