New Mahindra XUV700 in South Africa – Pricing and specifications

The South African pricing and specifications for the Mahindra XUV700 have finally been revealed, the new SUV coming to replace the well-known XUV500.

The XUV700 is available with one engine and a choice of three trim levels, with pricing as follows:

  • Mahindra XUV700 AX5 – R474,999
  • Mahindra XUV700 AX7 – R524,999
  • Mahindra XUV700 AX7 L – R559,999

Each purchase includes a 5-year/100,000km warranty and a 5-year/100,000km service and roadside assistance plan.

The first 700 customers to pre-order the new SUV from 11h00 today will also receive one of two rewards – either a package including a fuel voucher, tow bar, and side steps; or an extension on the warranty from five to seven years.

The first batch of units is then planned to land in the country towards the end of November, a spokesperson for Mahindra told TopAuto.

What’s included

The South African version of the new Mahindra comes with a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine which produces a total of 149kW and 380Nm.

A six-speed automatic gearbox is used to send power to the wheels, and fuel consumption works out to approximately 8.7l/100km on a combined cycle.

On the visual front, the XUV700 improves upon the XUV500 that it’s replacing with Mahindra’s new Twin Peaks logo design, arrowhead rear LED lamps, new LED headlights and daytime running lights, and diamond-cut alloys ranging from 17 to 18 inches, depending on the model.

In the features department, standard equipment across the new XUV700 range comprises a panoramic sunroof, six speakers, and a new dual-screen infotainment centre consisting of two 26cm HD displays for media and driver info, also supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The mid-range AX7 adds on this with leatherette upholstery, a six-way electronically adjustable driver’s seat, a leather steering wheel, keyless start, dual-zone climate control, a reverse camera, rain-sensing wipers, and an advanced driver system with adaptive cruise control, driver drowsiness monitoring, lane-keep assist, traffic sign recognition, forward collision warnings, and automatic emergency braking.

Finally, the top-of-the-range AX7 L will grant buyers a 360-degree camera system, blind-spot monitoring, a 12-speaker Sony sound system, keyless entry, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go function, and a wireless phone charger.
