Largest supercar rally in Southern Hemisphere happening in South Africa in 2023

The 2023 Ozow Daytona Supercar Rally (OzowDR23) is kicking off in South Africa on 15 June and will see a convoy of the world’s most desirable cars complete a 1,300km road trip jam-packed with mini events and five-star pit stops across multiple provinces.
Originally, the six-day-long OzowDR23 was scheduled for 27 April, however, the date has now been changed “due to the large number of public holidays over the original period and the likelihood of improved weather at the event’s numerous destinations later in the year,” said rally sponsors Ozow.
According to the company, this year’s roadshow will be “the largest supercar rally in the southern hemisphere” thanks to no fewer than 60 exotic autos confirmed to be taking part.
Catch the rally in action
The OzowDR23 is starting at the Kyalami racetrack in Midrand, Gauteng, in June, with all the participants set to complete a loud and flashy lap around the famous Gran Prix circuit before setting off on public roads.
From Kyalami, the five-dozen supercars are setting their GPS to the Drakensberg, followed by Ballito, Umhlanga, and then Port Shepstone which are all located in KwaZulu-Natal.
After finishing with this province, the rally is heading towards its penultimate location in Hoedspruit, Limpopo, before reaching its final stop on 20 June in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga.
“A number of stops along the route will see the full field of precious metal participate in competitions including tyre-testing gymkhanas, time trials at Dezzi Raceway, a hillclimb on the famed bends of the R539 near Sabie, and flat-out top speed runs on Hoedspruit’s Air Force runway,” said Ozow.
Entrants are also nominating their charities of choice and will challenge one another to raise the most money for these organisations by the end of the rally. This will be done through unique smartphone-scannable QR codes that will be stuck to every vehicle in the event.
“Teams are encouraged to support their charities through donations from associates and members of the public along the high-octane journey,” said Ozow.
Enthusiasts keen on catching the rally in action can follow along on the OzowDR23 Facebook and Instagram pages, or on the event website.
Owners who are interested in entering the event can contact Mark Castel at [email protected], but to be considered, they will need to bring a “super, hyper, or ultimate luxury car” to the party.
