7-seater Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV launched in South Africa – Pricing and specifications

Hot off the heels of the new EQE SUV, Mercedes-Benz has introduced its flagship EQS SUV to the South African market.

Two variants of the luxurious high-rider are available, one with five seats and one with seven, with prices starting from R2,726,100 and R2,759,300, respectively.

EQS SUV specifications

The EQS is the most opulent of Mercedes-Benz’s electric SUVs, being equipped with the latest technologies the brand has to offer.

The highlight of the cabin is the second-generation MBUX infotainment system that measures 12.8 inches, featuring adaptive software that changes the display and operating concept completely for its users and makes personalised suggestions for numerous infotainment, comfort, and vehicle functions.

The SUV further comes with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, Neotex/Artico man-made leather seats, four-zone climate control, keyless entry and start, blind-spot assist, active lane-keeping assist, LED lights with adaptive high-beam assist, adaptive cruise control, and active parking assist with 360-degree cameras.

Furthermore, the second row of seats is electrically adjustable as standard, and thus, the luggage compartment can be expanded from 645 litres to up to 880 litres, and with the backrests folded down, the cargo volume grows to a maximum of 2,100 lires.

“This means that even with five occupants, up to 24 crates of mineral water or four golf bags can be transported,” said Mercedes.

In 4504Matic trim, the EQS SUV features a 108.4kWh battery and an electric motor on each axle delivering a total of 265kW and 800Nm.

A driving range of 616km is on the cards with this setup, as is a 0-100km/h time of six seconds and a top speed of 210km/h.

Charging the battery at a 200kW DC wallbox from 10-80% is then completed as little as 31 minutes, and 10-100% on a 7kW AC plug takes 12.5 hours.

Agility finance

Potential buyers looking for more peace of mind can acquire the new EQS SUV through Agility Finance, Mercedes-Benz’s Guaranteed Future Value product.

“Agility is one of the best ways to purchase a Mercedes-Benz, as customers have flexibility,” said the manufacturer.

“This tailor-made finance solution comes with a Guaranteed Future Value and customers can select their mileage and term upfront to suit their needs.”

Agility is available from 12 to 60 months, and if buyers select a 36-month contract, they can qualify for the Agility Earned offer and earn a reward of 0.25% interest rate reduction in the second year of the finance contract and again in the third year, provided they don’t miss a single payment.

At the end of the selected finance term, the customer can choose to either renew the vehicle, keep it, or return it to Mercedes-Benz.
