Lower prices and new models for Hyundai Creta in South Africa

Hyundai has covertly dropped the prices of its popular Creta line-up and added two stylish new Matt Edition models.
This follows the cost-cutting of the Grand i10, i20, and Venue earlier in 2024 in an effort to remain competitive in a rapidly evolving market.
As a result, the Creta family now consists of five models instead of three, priced from R449,900 instead of R469,500.
What you get
The two new Matt Edition variants are based on the existing Premium and Executive trim levels of the Creta range, receiving a few cosmetic upgrades to stand out among their siblings.
Mainly, the special-edition models come standard in matt exterior paint and with black wheels and badging, and they boast a Black Mono interior theme. Apart from this, they are virtually identical to the rest of the range.
As such, customers who purchase any Creta in Premium grade will get niceties such as 17-inch alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights, automatic halogen headlights, keyless entry, a 3.5-inch multi-info driver’s display, leather multifunction steering wheel, artificial leather seat upholstery, manual airconditioning with rear-seat vents, an 8-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and four speakers.
Occupant safety and driver assistance systems encompass cruise control, hill-start assist, a reverse camera, ABS with electronic brake-force distribution, and two front airbags.
It’s also worth mentioning that the automatic Creta Premium model gets push-button start, whereas in the manual you’ll still have to insert a key and turn it to fire up the engine.
Those upgrading to the pricier Creta Executive can furthermore expect LED headlights, roof rails, a fully digital 10.25-inch instrument cluster, a wireless charger, two additional speakers, blind-spot collision avoidance assist, lane-departure warning, lane-follow assist, forward-collision avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic alert, drive fatigue detection, and six airbags.
Standard or Matt Edition, the entire Creta series is equipped with a 1.5-litre petrol mill channeling drive to the front axle.
The power unit churns out 84kW and 144Nm and reports an average fuel usage of 6.5l/100km in six-speed manual guise and 6.3l/100km when the Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT) automatic model is selected.
The crossover is capable of completing the 0-100km/h dash in 12.0 seconds with a manual box and 11.8 seconds with the IVT, whereas top speed is pegged at 170km/h for either specification.
